Working?

Took a little break to try out the water houseing at Thalia.  Camera is a little messed up so it doesn't always shoot when you pull the trigger but still got a couple of fun ones.  Rider is Muchu, check out his blog link on the right!

Back

After a month of travel and all that fun stuff it is time to get back to making boards.  With some good swell on the way, tourists leaving town and some new blanks in the works fall is looking good.  On the rack new 6'3" stringerless EPS blank that will end up as a new piece in my quiver.

Fish Nugget

Couple quick shots of the new fish.  Kind of akward angles but good enough for now.  Pretty much all shaped up and fin box's are in.  Ready to glass when I get back from Venezuela.

Everyday Im Hustlin

Getting it done in the ghetto workshop.  Starting up a new 5'7" ish fish.  Little tweaked retro fish keeping it a little curvier in the outline and pulling in the tail.

The new thruster.

Haven't had a thruster in a while so figured I would whip one up for the steeper days.  Got it out this past weekend in some small fun waves and like it so far.  Read post below for the bottom specs.  6'2" X 18 3/4" X 2 3/8"

A little bigger.

New whip for me.  Little bigger than my standard mid 5 foot boards.  Looks like it will endup being 6'2" or so.  Bottom is slight chine/V into a long single concave to the ever popular spiral V.  Hope it will be  fast paddler and get me into and more important out of some good barrels.

More skim shapes

New skim shape.  Kind of a wierd angle for the pic making it look super wide but the board feels good.  S-glass with some sick surf style rails and a dome deck.  Off to NJ this week.

No sun July

Last week. from NetoShapes on Vimeo.

Some footage from the gopro over the last week.  Still have yet to figure out the optimal way to use it to get good clips.  Maybe I am to focused on catching waves to bother.  Still amuseing though.  Few different spots and riders.

NJ Quiver

Three new shapes heading out to the NJ lineup (Click for the line up pic!).
From the left:
1.  XL shape that has been narrowed up in the belly area and added in boxier than average rails to help speed down the line.  Patent pending tail of insanity makes it the best board to be on for when its fireing.
2.  Concave, yes.  Double wings, yes.  New age batail, yes.  Incredible ride, yes.
3.  Kept this one more traditional.  Boxy rails with a blunted out nose.  Rocket tail to keep it fast and loose and S-glass to add a little stiffness.

All arounder

New quad built for the everyday use.  Tail is a little wider to help get in the weaker waves early but included the tail bumps to make it narrower than a fish so it can still turn quick and hold then it gets steep.  Fast and fun thats how we like them.  Click for the big pics.

Marble Madness

Marble on the new mini quad.  Pigment didn't hold the colors I wanted but still came out looking good.  Once it is glassed you can really ge the feel of the board and this one is going to be a shred machine.  Hot coat and sanding and it will be done.

Evening at Trails

Trails Day from NetoShapes on Vimeo.

First time trying out the the GoPro wide angle cam.  Had it on my wrist for a fun evening sesh last week.  Waves where a little inconsistent some being good others flat but overall pretty fun South swell and with no one in the water it was a good time.  Going to take some practice to get some good clips but got to start somewhere.

Remix situation

Found this board at the beach.  6'9" overglassed, over stickered and over its usefull life.  Cut it up to make a new board and reuse the foam.  The foam sat for a while until one day an idea just seemed to present itself and the party stick was made... Click pic for the full board.

End result the 5'2" x 19" party stick.  Chined nose, twin fins, squash tail with some different bottom steps.  Kept the rails very boxy through the middle to help keep some volume.  Click pic for the full board.

The last two weeks I have been riding it every day and it is way more fun than I expected.  Very loose on backsides but still not to unstable.  Frontside you can feel the lack of rail length and small fins as it is hard to generate a lot of drive but makes up for it in super fast response.  Today was fun glassy shoulder high and it worked well.
